Do customers need Bitcoin?

No, if you connect a card processor. With Pro (coming soon), customers who can't pay in bitcoin pay by card at the same checkout, into your own processor account; bitcoin stays the default. To pay in bitcoin they need a wallet that can pay: any Lightning wallet, or any bitcoin wallet for on-chain. Apps like Cash App and Strike can pay Lightning invoices. The POS takes Lightning, plus card with a processor connected, but not on-chain. The live 1¢ demo also asks for an email to deliver its receipt.

Does SatsRail ever hold my money?

No. Not for bitcoin, cards, the storefront, the POS or subscriptions. Bitcoin goes to your own wallet: your Lightning Address for Lightning, or a fresh address derived from your watch-only key for on-chain. SatsRail requests the invoice or watches the address and confirms the payment; it can see payments, never spend them. Card payments go to your own processor account, paid on the processor's own page, so SatsRail never sees a card number. Bitcoin payments are final (on-chain, once confirmed), and you arrange refunds with customers. How settlement works.

What does the wallet cost?

Mobile wallets like Blink are free to set up. Running your own node on always-on hardware or a hosting provider can add channel and hosting costs. Compare setup options and check your provider's current quote.

Can I receive dollars instead?

Payments settle in bitcoin. SatsRail does not automatically cash out to your bank or remove price volatility. You choose when to convert. Explore exchange options.

Can customers pay on-chain?

Yes, and it is in early access. Above your minimum (20 in your currency by default), checkout lets the customer choose Lightning or on-chain. Every on-chain order gets a fresh bc1q or bc1p address derived from your watch-only key, so the money lands in your own wallet. SatsRail can watch that address; it can never spend from it. A payment is final once confirmed (about 10 minutes per confirmation, and you choose 1, 2, 3 or 6). One seen within 15 minutes of the quote is honored at the quoted price, and one up to a day late still pays if it is worth the order's price; any other late or wrong-amount payment waits for your decision. Same plans, still 0% per payment, and the customer pays the network fee. It works in links, checkout, pay.js, the API and MCP; the POS app doesn't take on-chain. Ask us for early access.
