SatsRail confirms the payment and checks the ticket's access period before it releases the key that unlocks the film. The ticket itself carries no key.

The browser fetches the encrypted video, decrypts it on the device and plays it, with seeking, fullscreen and adaptive quality. A countdown shows the time left.

Channel access

- Your ticket is kept in the browser you paid in. Clearing its cookies can remove it, and there's no cross-device recovery.
- A ticket also opens the film's discussion. Comments are anonymous and stay available after your viewing time ends.

Watching without an account doesn't mean no data exists, or that a payment can't be traced. It means you never create a viewer profile to buy a ticket.

A merchant for each channel
Every channel connects its own SatsRail merchant, so each channel's sales settle to its own Lightning wallet. A merchant can't be shared between channels.
Your prices and periods
Sell films one by one, add a channel pass, or offer both. You set each ticket's price and access period.
Stored and streamed encrypted
Films are kept and delivered as encrypted segments. Only a verified ticket gets the key, and only while the ticket lasts.
A rating on every film
Each published film carries one rating from PrivaPaid's list: All ages, PG, PG-13, R or Adult-only. Viewers see it before they buy.
Staff accounts with roles
Owners and editors sign in to upload, preview and publish films. Changes to team access, merchant credentials and prices need a fresh authenticator code.
Discussions you moderate
Ticket holders can discuss each film. Your staff can hide any comment, and every removal is logged.

Sign up
Create a studio account at privapaid.com and add a channel. You don't need a SatsRail account for this part.

Open SatsRail
Open a SatsRail account, create a merchant for the channel and connect the Lightning wallet you want to be paid in. PrivaPaid is Lightning only: a merchant's on-chain wallet isn't used unless an admin enables it.

Connect
Link the channel to that merchant by signing in with SatsRail or with the merchant's API key. Studio owners confirm it with an authenticator code.

Go public
PrivaPaid verifies the connection with SatsRail. Once the merchant is active, the channel is public and viewers can find it.
SatsRail charges merchants a subscription, not a percentage of each sale. Estimate a channel's price.

Before you
buy or publish.
Do viewers need an account?
No. Viewers need a Lightning wallet with enough bitcoin for the ticket. There's no PrivaPaid or SatsRail account to create, and no email or password. Only studio staff have accounts.
What's the difference between video and channel access?
Video access covers one film. Channel access covers every published film in the channel, including films released while the pass is active. Studios choose which tickets to offer, and checkout shows the final price and access period before payment.
What happens when the access time runs out?
Playback stops and the ticket choices come back, so you can buy again. The film's discussion stays open to you.
Can I watch on another device?
Not with the same ticket. It's kept in a cookie in the browser you paid in, and there's no cross-device recovery. Clearing that browser's cookies can remove your access.
Does encryption stop piracy?
No, and PrivaPaid doesn't claim to. Films are stored and streamed encrypted, and only a verified ticket unlocks playback while it lasts. It isn't DRM: it can't stop someone recording their screen, or take back a film that has already played.
Where does the money go?
Straight to the Lightning wallet behind the channel's SatsRail merchant. PrivaPaid never holds the bitcoin, and SatsRail is non-custodial. SatsRail charges merchants a subscription, not a percentage of sales. See pricing.
Can viewers pay on-chain?
Not in this version. Tickets are paid over Lightning.
When does a channel become public?
As soon as its SatsRail connection is verified and SatsRail reports the merchant active, even before you publish a film. A test-mode connection never makes a channel public, and if a connection is revoked, the channel and its films leave PrivaPaid's listings.
What do studios upload?
An H.264 MP4 file. PrivaPaid encrypts it and packages it for streaming, and your staff can preview it in the same player viewers use before publishing.
What does signing in with SatsRail let PrivaPaid do?
It lets PrivaPaid sign you in and manage ticket payments and keys for the merchant you choose. It can't change your wallets.
Is PrivaPaid open source? Can I host it myself?
No. PrivaPaid is a hosted service, and its software is proprietary to SatsRail LLC. The earlier source-available app has been retired: copies of those releases keep the FSL-1.1-ALv2 license they shipped with, but that code is archived and no longer maintained.
